So I am on the tail end of a small lead abatement project involving my sunroom. It looks like a scaled down version of the house in ET after the government guys showed up. Six layers of paint on the concrete floor, which has lovely melange of color due to pigment soaking in. Anyone know of a good concrete sealer that is shiny too? I figure I can tell folks it's faux marble then. Ten coats of paint on the woodwork and buddy let me tell ya!!! Three different products to get it all off. That last coat is a killer.
The paint on the sunroom floor was pealing and the woodwork was alligatoring, so time to do something. My head is stuffed up a bit, no doubt from the subtle fumes that are sneaking past the plastic wrappings.
This was supposed to be a 3 day affair, it is headed into Day 5 and we should be done.
So apologies if not more engaged, between that and my current work assignment my head is spinning.

You should be wearing a respirator when you do this stuff. Make sure you get yourself tested for lead when you get finished.
I am not the one doing the work. The company doing the work is using respirators and special clothes.
Greenmakers building supply can answer your questions and suggest a sealer. They're on Pulaski.
I believe the dangers from lead and asbestos are overstated. Of course, it's different for a small child. I have removed tons of lead paint and I had my blood tested annually and the lead levels were "normal."
This doesn't mean one should be careless, but if the proper precautions are taken, should be fine.
I am not up on concrete sealers though- haven't done that yet! You could post a question on houseblogs.net and see if anyone there knows. There are a bunch of DIYers over there.
My god, don't go to greenmakers, I have had the worst experiences with them. They want to take over the Chicago Green Supply Market and are just cut throat. Please don't mention you may go to a competitor, even to get what they don't carry.
Joe Silver threw a rock through my window when I went with another contractor!
I hear the family has been in the remodeling business for years , using the Galaxy Construction name, until their shoddy workmanship destroyed the name and they had to reincorporate as Studio 41 to avoid litigation.
