Trolling through the underbrush of the Internet I came upon an eyewitness account by a sport fisherman who was UNDER the Deepwater Horizon as it started to blow. I posted the link at The Oil Drum. It's a wild story complete with pictures. Have a look at Petrographer's comment immediately following my post. What remains to be determined is how that gas bubble got into the drill pipe and thus up to the rig.
And from the Wingnut Section - Rush Limbaugh has claimed 1) the incident was the work of environmentalists and 2) that nature will take care of the oil spill. Seriously! Following quote from the link;
You do survive these things. I'm not advocating don't care about it hitting the shore or coast and whatever you can do to keep it out of there is fine and dandy, but the ocean will take care of this on its own if it was left alone and was left out there. It's natural. It's as natural as the ocean water is. (interruption) Well, the turtles may take a hit for a while, but so what? So do we!
