An Example of a Sustainable Society

From The Energy Bulletin an article about the Edo Period in Japan. An interesting example of a sustainable society.

Check out "Collapse" by Jared DIamond. It is a very interesting look at why civilizations collapse, and sometimes why they succeed. He points out Edo Japan as a success, and many many interesting failures. It all comes down to resource management, and he points out a couple paths to success. Japan was a top down approach, whereas New Guinea is a bottom up approach. Very interesting stuff.
