Gasoline at $9.00/Gallon

Today. Right now. In England. Doubt me? Here is Matt Simmons on energy prices and more. And some comments on the GAO report.

Here is a lovely map describing the distribution and utilization of oil.

If you have an hour to spare, and .mp3 capability James Kunstler's speech to the Commonwealth Club of California is worth listening to. He speaks directly to the issue of Cantarell, including the end of exports from Mexico and invites us to consider the implications for the political situation in Mexico. He also refers to Jeffrey Brown's analysis of the decline in exports from the Top 10 Exporters. We may have 10 years at best. Kunstler speaks plain English. This is an older speech, occurring shortly after the Mexican riots over corn for tortillas based on what Kunstler says in his speech. There are questions from the audience at the end.

One can hope the Ward Office is reading this site and listens to Kunstler, and then reads the article mentioned below.

The Energy Bulletin dissects MSM suggestions for getting the oil out of the ground. And lest you think that the Gulf of Mexico is being ignored:

Oil industry people are smart. They first look for oil in the most favorable locations to find the large fields. The U.S. government has already leased most of the geologically favorable areas in the deepwater GOM down to the Mexican border so it’s likely that most of the +100 million barrel fields have already been discovered. Deepwater GOM production should peak around 2010 in spite of future exploration and production developments.

OPEC cares about the state of the dollar. So much so that when the ministers realized their private discussion became public they cut off the live feed. Dollar falls, prices rise. Simple as that folks. Check your wallet.
