Who's your hero?

Don't you just love how Toni sits on her hands and does nothing? Imagine! An old hippie curmudgeon actually involved in her community! No! Wait! That must be her twin, the Good Toni because, as we all know, the Evil Toni would never actually do anything but talk smack about her neighborhood. Right?

Vanessa? Tom? I mean, how hateful of her to actually participate in the NOHPAC, which I know I referenced in the Say What thread, to wit:

5 - she is a member of the NOH Parks Advisory Council, which lobbied for the Gale Field House, which as you well know was stalled for a very long time and is only now finally being built.

Westie's retort was limited to my reference to her participation in CAPS, and ended with this:

Lots of complaining, very little action for change.

I don't know about Tom, but in my view the Cubs Care program offers an opportunity to provide active, positive influence on children. I don't see where the focus is on complaining, more that the focus is on action. Maybe Tom will participate too, since he is a father.

What did Toni do? Some guy named Corey is hanging out with the kids, which is great. Toni isn't Corey. What did Toni do?

Not to mention that I 'hate' all NFP's...na, I've never promoted Charles Hardwick and his work with ex-felons to find a job... or any of the positive programs of HACC like free spaying and neutering of pets for low income neighbors.

Pets are a necessity to some of us. Vets are an expensive necessity if we love our pets.

And next year, I'm lobbying for other activities for kids who aren't into sports. Art and music are termed 'universal language'.

Asked and answered Tom.

And I will point out, since you insist on being obtuse, not everyone leads. Many do the backoffice work that gives others their day in the sun. I am sure that thought hasn't occurred to you where Toni is concerned. It's much easier for you to bash her.

The truth is, Corey is coordinating these games, Corey is a neighbor, Corey is a good man. Corey is making time after work to coach the neighborhood kids.

I agree Kheris, Tom should help Corey since he knows so much. I do know there's a ball and bat involved in softball. Get the expert up here! He'd have to be visible rather than a shadow observer as he was at the first MLK walk he didn't think of. Nor did anyone else in all these years.

And Mr. Tom speaks of complaining?

Yes, some people on committees do backoffice work. Other people occupy a seat but never actually do anything. As long as you're using terminology from cross-examination, how about answering the question asked: What did Toni do?

If there's so much material, it should be easy to come up with a few examples. Of course, the next step will be to compare the volume of whining and attacks on other people, compared the volume of things she did. But if you can't come up with even a single example of something Toni actually did, the comparison process is a foregone conclusion. Division by zero always gives the same number.

I appreciate the efforts of Toni and all the other folks in the 'hood who make the phone calls, send the e-mails and otherwise do the work to make events happen and help problems get cleaned up. We don't have any good fairy to wave a magic wand and make it all happen with one stroke. It takes a lot of small steps behind the scenes.

I said I wasn't going to do your research for you, but I forgot how lazy lawyers can get when they think they can shove the work off on an underling. So here's one for you. Like I said Tom, asked and answered. You're doing the bashing, the burden of proof is on you. Make a case that is more than rhetorical and people might actually pay attention.
