More on Gonu

Looks like the world is waking up to the potential impact from Gonu:

Manouchehr Takin, an analyst at the Center for Global Energy Studies in London, said the real fear is that the loading of tankers might be delayed by the storm.

``About 17-21 million barrels a day of oil are coming out of the Persian Gulf. Even if only some of the tankers are delayed, that could reduce the supply of oil and increase prices,'' Takin said.

The Omanis have closed down the affected ports until June 7, subject to weather conditions.

Those of you wondering about ships in the Gulf will be relieved to know that there are only 3 out there now. Check here by clicking on the geographic location, or use the pulldown menus. Pretty cool site in my opinion.

Over at The Oil Drum the navel gazing continues. There is some consensus that damage is inevitable, how much and the impact on oil exports is the issue. Regardless, plenty of cool pictures for the weather hounds in our midst.
