Thirst for Oil

From The Independent, a commentary on peak oil that reinforces the points that new finds will only delay the inevitable, a crash mitigation program may be necessary, and credits Dick Cheney with recognizing an oncoming peak as long as 7 years ago. One wonders however, given the temporizing about our "addiction to oil", whether our government intends to operate in Heinberg's Last Man Standing mode. I have seen nothing so far from the Federal government, let alone local, that indicates any energy being focused on changing our economic paradigm.
