Traveling the web and came upon
Spaceweather.com and their latest update on space weather. Includes a link to a gallery of recent aurora displays. Don't know if we should expect to see any this far south, but you never know. The gallery is wonderful.

There were auroras visible right here in RP on at least two occasions in early December - also the Geminid meteor shower was very beautiful this year - 3 to 5 meteors a minute .... a great resource for short lived astronomical events is:
