Inquiries

Gordo is meeting with the citizenry tomorrow and I will miss it. So I sent the following to him, Chris Adams and Jim Ginderske:

I would like to know;

1) how Mr. XXXXX intends to deal with the gangbangers who feel confident enough to threaten civic minded individuals like Craig Gernhardt. See this post http://morsehellhole.blogspot.com/2006/10/hey-cameraman-were-gunna-getcha-ya.html

2) what specific ideas he has for cleaning up the Block buildings on Morse and Lunt, and ensuring that affordable housing does not equate to crime-ridden housing

3) what specific ideas he has for bringing retail business to Morse, Sheridan and Howard Streets that amounts to more than additional dollar stores. I shop in the Loop and Evanston because there is no reason to shop in RP aside from Dominicks in Gateway because I can walk to it.

4) what specific ideas he has to assist the homeless, including those who use Loyola Park as their sleeping quarters and those who continually solicit help at the Howard El.

5) what specific ideas he has to work with CTA and the city to improve the El stops in RP. I use Loyola because it is safer than the rest and doesn't smell as bad. Jarvis is closer to my residence but is a public urinal. Howard is on a street with very little to recommend it as a safe venue for walking home.

I'll let ya know if any of them deign to actually answer a mere voter. Given RPNeighbor's experience with Adams, I am not too hopeful.

As you probably know, I'm not blogging and (almost) not posting comments this month. But as Chair of the Ginderske campaign, I want to let you know that we've gotten your request.

Since the campaign hasn't met yet to discuss your exact questions, I can't respond directly immediately. However, I would encourage anyone who is interested in these, and similar questions, to look at the plan on our website for Ginderske 2007, and compare it to the other candidates' plans. We believe that, if the voters have the opportunity to be fully informed about all the candidates, we'll come out ahead.

The Ginderske campaign is also having an informal get-together on Sunday, October 8, 2006 from 12:00 to 4:00, at campaign headquarters, 6970-C N Sheridan. (I've been laughing, because the day after I put out 1500 flyers inviting people to our office on Sunday, Gordon's website announces a Saturday event. What next - Adams on Fridays, Moore on Mondays? So be it.) Please feel free to join us on Sundays, and questions are welcomed. Campaign headquarters is also regularly staffed throughout the week, but call ahead, because sometimes we're all out canvassing, flyering, etc. (773) 338-3643

Thanks for your interest in the campaign.

Unfortunately, I have a prior engagement on Sunday, and will miss that little session too. But I have reviewed all the sites. In general, they are all saying the same thing, thus the questions.

And Anon -- I really don't expect Tom to answer, I want to hear from the candidate.

The next set of questions will be about why I should vote for them. Plans and rhetoric won't cut it. I'll want examples that display their leadership qualities in action. I'll be working up the questions this week. I suspect Jim G's campaign will be on their toes since Tom is paying attention to this blog for now. Don't know if Gordo's or Adams' campaign is looking or not.

Hey Tom,

I saw your flyers for the Sunday event littering the neighboorhood all over the ground. Next time, distribute them in a different way, so if people want to throw them away, there is a trach can nearby. I started getting tired of picking them up after the first couple of dozen.
